What is QR Code Generator?

This QR code generator covers four kinds of payload — URL, plain text, WiFi credentials and vCard contact cards — with an error correction level anywhere from L to H, an adjustable size and PNG export. Codes are rendered entirely in the browser, so nothing you type is ever uploaded.

How to use QR Code Generator

  1. 1Choose a content type: the WiFi and contact card modes assemble the standard payload format for you.
  2. 2Fill in the content — the preview on the right updates as you type.
  3. 3Match the error correction level to the use: pick Q or H for anything printed or likely to be partly covered.
  4. 4Click "Download PNG" to save the result.

Frequently asked questions

Which QR code error correction level should I use?+

Level L recovers from about 7% damage and level H from about 30%. For a code shown on a screen, L or M is plenty and keeps the pattern sparse and quick to scan. Choose Q or H when the code will be printed, mounted outdoors, or has a logo covering the middle — otherwise minor wear is enough to make it unreadable.

Why does nothing happen when my phone scans a WiFi QR code?+

WiFi QR codes depend on native support in the camera app. The iOS camera and most stock Android cameras recognise the format, but plenty of third-party scanner apps do not. Also check that the encryption type matches your router — this tool generates WPA/WPA2 by default.

Is there a limit to how much data a QR code can hold?+

Yes. A QR code tops out at roughly 2,953 bytes, more if the content is all digits, but the higher the version the denser the pattern and the harder it is to scan. In practice keep the payload under about 300 characters and put a short link in the code when the content is longer.
